Two fair lasses,
Putting one hand around each other’s shoulders,
And from the other,
Clasping each other’s waists,
Are walking ahead of me
Like two fairies.
Their four legs moving in unison
Appear two only;
They look like two rose-buds
Waving intermixed in the air
On a single stem;
Their locks together have intertwined and diffused
In such a way
Over their shoulders
That they look like the rays of the rising sun
On an icy hill-top.
It is difficult to say,
Who is more lovely, more fair, more wise.
There is the same smile on their lips,
The same softness in their eyes.
