the evening rose

My Repentance

I thought, your guiding light has gone
Lately, you have forsaken me
Like a child weeping in a forest alone
In vain, I crave your mercy

Not only that, I blamed you, Father!
For these my life’s hard facts
Forgetting that all my troubles were rather
The fruits of my past acts

But you are always so forgiving
So kind, so loving, so true
That I know not now, how to bring
My guilty self to you
